Ease to Grow: Moderate.
Dormancy: Not required.
Native Range: Peaty bogs of the Cape Provinces of South Africa.
Zones: 8-9 (7-10).

Roridula gorgonias is a rare, woody shrub with very sticky resinous leaves. The leaves are covered with sticky immovable tentacles. It is similar to R. dentata, but with somewhat smaller, straighter branches and more numerous flowers. It prefers damp peaty sphagnum bog areas, rather than hot arid scrublands like R. dentata. Leaves are upward to 3 inches (8 cm). Flowers late Winter to Spring. Flowers are pink and have 5 petals. They often cause branches to fork. Like most CPs seeds these need light to germinate.

Note: All seeds are produced from open pollination within our collection. Some cross pollination may occur, and seed offspring may or may not be true to mother plant. Growing carnivorous plants from seeds is best suited for the experienced and patient grower. See our webpage on Growing CPs from Seeds.

Plant Type: Perennial, semi-tropical.
Soil: General CP Mix.
