Green Dragon, Arisaema dracontium, is a rare and unique moist woodland wildflower, frequently found in the high upper areas surrounding bogs. In some ways similar to Jack-in-the-pulpit, its spadix or dragon's tongue, reaches far out of the "pulpit". It is a striking, tall, wet woodland plant with vibrant red flower heads. The ripened fruit looks like a cluster of red berries. It is Deer Resistant, and prefers growing in consistently wet, loose rich soils, appreciating shade. It flowers in the Spring. The alkaloids from the plant are considered poisonous to animals.
