Bog Candles or Swamp Candles, Lysimachia terrestris, is a showy inhabitant of bogs and wetlands. It is an emergent perennial with spires of dozens of small, but delightful star-shaped, yellow flowers with 2 red spots at the base of each petal. It flowers in mid-summer. The rhizomes can grow rapidly, forming a nice colony of plants in a season. It is winter hardy, and is a prolific grower, tolerating a wide range of wet growing conditions. It is an excellent companion for carnivorous plants, providing nice dappled lighting.

For Bog Candles, each portion is a rooted, growing plant and size refers to age: small (1 year), medium (2 years), large (3+ years old).

Plants are shipped bare-root, wrapped in damp sphagnum moss. In it's dormant season, it will be shipped as a dormant root/rhizome. Photographs are representative of species, and not the specific plant shipped.

Time will tell

Much smaller than anticipated given other reviews
of its rapid growth and spreading habit, (barely 2 inches high, tiny roots.)
However every plant I have purchased here has survived and given us immense pleasure.

Doing well, maybe a bit TOO well!

Planted one in my 10'x5' bog garden two years ago, and it has spread to every corner of the bog since then. Great if that's what you want, but I've definitely got some pulling to do 😅

Well packed, nice looking roots

I think this one will be a nice addition to the bog. Haven’t seen any new growth yet, but leaves still look great. 5 stars
