Nepenthes glandulifera, is a medium size, robustly growing carnivorous tropical pitcher plant with large, 6+" red pitchers with dark red speckles. The stem and leaves are covered with black nectar glands (giving the plant its name) that produce a sweet scent. The whole plant is covered with fine bristly hairs. Lower pitchers are somewhat tublar and upper pitchers are conical. N. glandulifera was discovered in 2002 in the Hose Mountains of Central Sarawak. It does well in a window. It is quite good at catching large insects, such as: stink bugs, wasps and yellow jackets. It can be grown outdoors in the warm weather with a minimal transition period. It is a great in a terrarium, and as a houseplant or in the greenhouse.
