Sarracenia x ahlesii or Ahles Pitcher Plant is a naturally occurring beautiful red hybrid of S. rubra x alata. The pitchers are pale green with dominate red veins. S. x ahlesii prefers open, sunny, boggy conditions, and holds its color into the frost. The flowers are rosy red trimmed in pale pink. They bloom early in the Spring before new traps are fully emerged. This is an outstanding accent plant for the bog garden, and is very showy in large numbers.
Plants are shipped bare-root, wrapped in damp sphagnum moss. In its dormant season, it will be shipped as a dormant rhizome with trimmed off pitchers. Photographs are representative of the hybrid, and not the specific plant shipped.
