The Guatemala Butterwort, Pinguicula guatemala, is an easy to grow, tropical butterwort that develops a reddish cast in full sun. It has broadly flattened, pale green, leaves with slightly curled edges. Its large sticky leaves can form rosettes about 3+" across. It has a wide range of tolerance, but prefers damp, loose, peaty soils, and open shade, with wet Summers and dry Winters. It forms larger, sticky carnivorous leaves in the Summer and smaller, drier, non-carnivorous, succulent leaves in the Winter. It blooms in Spring and Fall with 1-7+ bright pink flowers with a white center. It responds well to warm, wet Summers and drier, cooler Winters. The Guatemala Butterwort is an excellent house plant, doing well on window sills, plant carts and greenhouses. They perform great in a terrarium. Our Butterworts are artificially propagated from leaf pulls.

Plants are shipped bare-root, wrapped in moist towel in a closed cup. Photographs are representative of species, and not the specific plant shipped.

Update

I bought the plant about a week ago and it arrived in a nice small box, which is standard. The plant is about the size of a quarter but it is pretty. Looking forward to seeing the growth, especially next summer.

My review on the Butterwort

I guess they just don't like it here in the desert. It's not looking too happy.
