Nepenthes bicalcarata, is a medium sized, carnivorous tropical pitcher plant with fangs, or at least that's what they look like. They are actually spurs coming from the underside of the hood. Traps in this clone have the typical green and bronze tint, and wide, prominent wings. Basal traps are urn shaped and can get up to 6" in length. It is heat tolerant and does well in a window. It is quite good at catching large insects, such as: stink bugs, wasps and yellow jackets. N. bicalcarata is a swamp dwelling species that grows alongside N. ampullaria, and loves it hot and humid. It grows naturally in the shade of relatively dense, damp, woody vegetation. In cultivation it does well in moderately bright indirect light. Reduce watering in winter. It is a great house plant, that can be grown outdoors in the warm weather. It is excellent in the terrarium, and suitable for beginners.

Unless size specifies "potted", plants are shipped bare-root, wrapped in damp sphagnum moss. Photographs are representative of species, and not the specific Nepenthes bicalcarata for sale. On small plants, juvenile pitchers may or may not show fangs.

Plant looked great, plant was doing great. Then the squirrel came. I hate squirrels. Had to order another plant after the squirrel killed the first one. Really bummed out. Not your guys fault. I have since declared war on the squirrel.

N. Bical is growing well

We are over the moon for our new N. Bical. For now we have it in a propagation tray with dome and it is thriving. A new pitcher went from a twinkle in our eyes to 3cm and still growing in the two short weeks after it arrived.

This is our third time ordering online. The packaging for shipment was excellent as usual; plants were packed tightly and arrived safely in great shape.
