Nepenthes madagascariensis, was the first Nepenthes to be discovered by the French. It is a medium sized, carnivorous tropical pitcher plant with striking upper pitcher that are funnel shaped, narrow, yellow green, with a tint of rouge, and a large oval lid. Basal traps are urn shaped and take on a bright red color in bright light. It is heat tolerant and does well in a window. It is quite good at catching large insects, such as: stink bugs, wasps and yellow jackets.  N. madagascariensis grows naturally in open ground, scattered with bushes. In cultivation is does well in moderately bright indirect light. Reduce watering in winter. It is a great house plant, that can be grown outdoors in the warm weather. It is excellent in the terrarium or shaded greenhouse.

Plants are shipped bare-root, wrapped in damp sphagnum moss. Photographs are representative of species, and not the specific plant shipped.
