Jack-in-the-Pulpit, Arisaema triphyllum, is an excellent woodland garden plant, frequently found in the high upper areas surrounding bogs. The "Jack" is the flower spadix resembling a preacher in the pulpit (pouch shaped spathe). It is a striking, tall, wet woodland plant with vibrant red flower heads. The ripened fruit looks like a cluster of red berries. It is Deer Resistant, and prefers growing in consistently wet, loose rich soils, appreciating shade. It flowers in the Spring. The alkaloids from the plant are considered poisonous to animals. Caution: avoid contact. Beginning gardeners sometimes confuse Jack-in-the-Pulpit for a Pitcher Plant.

Plants are at or near flowering size. They are shipped potted during the growing season, and shipped as a dormant corm during it's dormant season. Photographs are representative of species, and not the specific plant shipped.

Seed Packs are fresh harvested in the Fall, and stored refrigerated. 12 seeds per pack. Seed count is approximate, but reliable.

Note: Stratification is required to prepare seeds for germination. All seeds are produced from open pollination within our collection. Some cross pollination among different cultivars may occur.
