The Cyclosecta Butterwort, Pinguicula cyclosecta, is an easy to grow, indoor butterwort.  It has broadly flattened, pale purple green, leaves with slightly curled edges. Its large sticky leaves can form rosettes about 3+" across. It prefers damp, loose, slightly alkaline soils, and open shade, with wet Summers and dry Winters. In its native habitat it grows on north facing, limestone cliffs along shaded small streams. It forms larger, sticky carnivorous leaves in the Summer and smaller, drier, non-carnivorous, succulent leaves in the Winter. It blooms in Spring and Fall with multiple bright pruple-pink flowers. It responds well to warm, wet summers and drier, cooler winters. The Cyclosecta Butterwort is an excellent house plant, doing well on window sills, plant carts and greenhouses. They perform great in a terrarium. Our plants are artificially propagated from leaf pulls.

Plants are shipped bare-root. Photographs are representative of species, and not the specific plant shipped.

AMAZING GROWTH, SO HAPPY!

I cannot believe how large mine has grown, it grows more and more every day, seemingly overnight! My boyfriend gifted me one small size cyclocecta around Valentine's Day (Feb 14, 2026, first photo) and look at it now (March 17, 2026, photos below). I live in zone 7, and it sits in a west facing window. I collected snow and rainwater, and it sits in a self watering setup, using the soil mix from this website. We also feed it plenty of carpenter ants (since they are randomly appearing around my house) so that probably has helped with its growth. Anyway, it's been both easy and enjoyable to have around and watch grow, and it's even easier to propagate! I've pulled 3 leaves around Valentine's day, and they're almost ready to be potted up by now!

I love this plant!

I worked with them about getting these lovely butterworts! They’ve been thriving, (unless my cats get to them) and I cannot wait to gift one of them away!
