Nepenthes bongso, has huge, reddish-purple traps with a nice wide flaring peristome. The traps are tubby. It is rare in carnivorous plant collections. In cultivation is does well in moderately bright indirect light. Reduce watering in winter. It is a great house plant, that can be grown outdoors in the warm weather. It is excellent in the terrarium, and shaded greenhouse. It can grow quite large.
It was originally described in 1839.
Plants are shipped bare-root, wrapped in damp sphagnum moss. Photographs are representative of species, and not the specific plant shipped. On small plants juvenile pitchers may or may not show fangs.
