The Spoonleaved Sundew, Drosera spatulata, is a small, perennial, flat, rosette-forming carnivorous plant with red traps and lots of tentacles. The longest tentacles are at the tips of the leaves and quickly move towards trapped prey in as short as 10 seconds. The color of the leaves is frequently scarlet red, but it can vary from orangey-green to maroon. The Spatulata Sundew is a pretty little tropical and has traps year-round. It tolerates a wide range of growing conditions, but prefers open, sunny, boggy conditions in peaty soils. The blossoms are pink on multi-flowered scapes. Typically there are several scapes at a time, and they are long lasting. It can flower at different times of the year, but more profusely in the summer months. The Spoonleaf Sundew generously produces seeds, that quickly sprout in neighboring pots, filling them within nice companions for your intended plant. It can become a wonderful "weed" in your carnivorous plant collection. Seeds can be sown immediately or stored in cool, dry conditions for a year or more. Stressed plants frequently regenerate from the rootstock. It is a is an excellent terrarium plant, and a reliable performer for your collection. It is easy to grow and is a great beginner's plant. D. spatulata was first scientifically documented in 1792. This selection comes from seeds and will show some genetic variation.

Growing Healthy, looking forward for more

Very Well Packaged: I purchased this Drosera Spatulata with couple other plants and potting medium. The nursery put the plants it's own little box with an adequate amount of cardboard spacers to ensure the plants were protected from the rest of the contents and movement during transport.

Growing Prolifically: It's only been about 2 weeks, the center flower stalk has grown an additional 2" and still going strong. The rest of the flower stalks are emerging rapidly as well, I'm looking forward to some seeds that I can nurture into a larger cluster like the one I received. I was lucky to receive one that is lil more than 1" in diameter and every few days I notice new leaf petals growing. It is Spring and we're getting longer days in the Northwest so that helps with the growth rate and it is "dewing" a lot better with more sunshine. The fungus gnats are finding its way to the new dew too.

Super Helpful Staff: Carnivorous Plant Nursery has everything you need to get started. I had plenty of questions being new to bog plants and their staff has been more than gracious in helping me getting set up for success, thanks to the team! I highly recommend getting plants here to expand your collection.

Small but very healthy looking plant. Packed VERY securely, I ordered several varieties and some even still had dew on them.

Plant is about dime sized

So impressed!

I saw these as seeds in a store and thought they were some of the coolest looking carnivorous plants I'd ever seen. I knew my plant menagerie would be incomplete without them, so set out to find a reputable looking nursery. I was not disappointed, from start delivery, and will definitely purchase from CPN in the future. Their prices are reasonable, the variety of plants they carry is remarkable and the care in which my drosera was packed and shipped was clearly evident when I opened her up today. I can't wait to see her thrive!

Awesome!

I had doubts about these seeds when I waited a while and they didn’t do anything… but once I tried heating them up a little more by putting them above the air vent below the window they started sprouting nicely!! The plants look healthy and are growing quickly
