Sarracenia x Doodle Bug is a stout cultivar with upright, light green pitchers with a delicate overlay of red veins around white areoles (windows). The colorful parrot-like hoods are long and curving. Nectar glads around the lip attract many insects. It is very vigorous and readily forms dense colonies. It prefers open, sunny boggy conditions, and holds its color into the frost. The small flowers are very numerous, red and spicy fragrant. They generally bloom mid season. It will add rich interest in your bog garden. Doodle Bug is a complex cultivar S. rubra alabamensis x psittacina. It is one of the Bug Series, compact/stout growers, from the Horticultural Program at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
Plants are shipped bare-root, wrapped in damp sphagnum moss. In it's dormant season, it will be shipped as a dormant rhizome with trimmed off pitchers. Photographs are representative of the cultivar, and not the specific plant shipped.

Use: Grows well in the bog garden, greenhouse and indoors. It is a nice addition to a tall terrarium.
