The Sarracenia x Maroon plant is a compact, ruffled cross of S. purpurea x rubra (S. x chelsonii). It is truly dark maroon in color with a strong display in all seasons, including Winter. It is a rare beauty with solid dark red pitchers when mature. It is of moderate height and prefers open, sunny, boggy conditions. The dark red flowers are fragrant, and bloom in early Spring providing curious interest to the bog garden or terrarium. This color form is a naturally occurring hybrid.
Plants are shipped bare-root, wrapped in damp sphagnum moss. In it's dormant season, it will be shipped as a dormant rhizome with trimmed off pitchers. Photographs are representative of the cultivar, not the plant shipped.
