Nepenthes burkei, is a medium size, fast growing carnivorous highland tropical pitcher plant with large, 6+" yellow green pitchers that are streaked in red. Traps are hour glass shaped with oval hoods, and wide flared red peristomes, and a wide mouth.  Lower pitchers have a brief life, but upper pitchers are abundant, larger and more colorful. It grows in the open or shade, among shrubs and trees. N.burkei grows in similar conditions to N. ventricosa. It does well in a window. It is quite good at catching large insects, such as: stink bugs, wasps and yellow jackets. It can be grown outdoors in the warm weather with a minimal transition period. It is a great in a terrarium, and as a houseplant or in the greenhouse.

Plants are shipped bare-root, wrapped in damp sphagnum moss. Photographs are representative of species, and not the specific plant shipped.
