This Spoon-Leaved Sundew, Drosera spatulata, is from Beenak, Victoria Australia. It is a medium, perennial, flat, rosette-forming carnivorous plant with rich red leaves and tentacles. The longest tentacles are at the tips of the leaves and quickly move towards trapped prey in as short as 10 seconds. It is a pretty little tropical and has traps year round. It tolerates a wide range of growing conditions, but prefers open, sunny, boggy conditions in peaty soils. The blossoms are pink on multi-flowered scapes. Typically there are several scapes at a time, and they are long lasting. It can flower at different times of the year, but more profusely in the summer months. It produces abundant seed that can be sown immediately or stored cool and dry. Stressed plants frequently regenerate from the rootstock. Drosera spatulata - Beenak is a is an excellent colorful terrarium plant, and a reliable performer for your collection. It is easy to grow and is a great beginner's plant. This selection comes from seeds and will show some genetic variation.

Super squashed

So it seems healthy, except the whole thing was super squashed down from packing/transit. It’s now living in my mini bog and has new growth already, so seems happy enough… but all the stuck down spatulas are definitely struggling to survive and I fear I may lose them all.
