The Alexandrite Aster Sundew, D. aliciae x sp. Lantau Island, is a colorful medium to large sized sundew hybrid. It forms a rosette of bright red wedge-shaped leaves with dark red tentacles. It forms a colony from plantlet emerging from the roots. It is an easy grower. It prefers open, sunny, boggy conditions in peaty soils. The blossoms are large and pink on multi-flowered tall scapes. Typically there are several scapes at a time, and they are long lasting. It can flower at different times of the year, but more profusely in the summer months. Allow for a winter rest for best growth. This hybrid is an excellent little terrarium plant. It is easy to grow, and is a great beginner's plant. This selection comes from leaf cuttings, and are genetically identical to the parent.
