Nepenthes diatas is a remarkable tropical pitcher plant with distinctive teeth along the peristome, similar to N. hamata. It is a Sumatran Highlands nepenthes with large orange to deep red, almost purple pitchers when mature. They are very beautiful, often growing in a compact rosette. N. diatas is quite similar in appearance to N. singalana. It prefers cool growing conditions, and a slight drop (10°F) in overnight temperatures. It is quite good at catching large insects, such as: stink bugs, wasps and yellow jackets. It is a great house plant in air conditioning.
